Al Baraka Bank Brings Warmth and Hope Through Annual Blanket Drive 2026

As winter continues to impact vulnerable communities across South Africa, Al Baraka Bank South Africa has once again extended a helping hand through its Annual Blanket Drive 2026. In partnership with various non-profit organizations and community volunteers, the bank distributed over 1 000 blankets across Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, bringing relief to individuals and families affected by the harsh winter conditions.

The initiative forms part of the bank’s ongoing social responsibility efforts aimed at supporting communities in need. Approximately 300 blankets were distributed in each region through the support of dedicated partners and volunteers.

Distribution partners included:

• Cape Town – Human Aid & Thapelo • Johannesburg – Human Aid & Zaheerah Bham • Durban – Human Aid

Speaking on the initiative, Cheryl Ramkumar, Social Responsibility Officer at Al Baraka Bank South Africa, said:

“Winter can be incredibly challenging for individuals and families facing hardship. Through our Annual Blanket Drive, we hope to provide not only warmth, but also a sense of care and dignity to those in need. We are deeply grateful to our partners and volunteers who continue to support this initiative and help us reach communities across the country.”

The Annual Blanket Drive remains one of Al Baraka Bank’s key community initiatives, reflecting the bank’s ongoing commitment to compassion and positive social impact.
